A Collaborative Partner for Persistent Symptoms
When progress stalls despite excellent care, address the root cause in the nervous system.
Some clients reach a plateau. Chronic pain, tension, or anxiety persists. Symptoms seem to have a "mind of their own." This is not a failure of treatment—it is often a sign of a nervous system stuck in a survival state, holding onto past stress or trauma.
The Challenge
Signs Your Client May Benefit from Our Collaboration:
-
Pain or tension continues despite consistent, skilled treatment
-
History of trauma, high-stress career, or chronic overwhelm
-
Reports feeling "on edge," unable to relax, or emotionally reactive
-
Pain levels appear disproportionate to physical findings
-
History of anxiety, panic attacks, or dissociation
-
Suspected unprocessed emotional stress contributing to physical or psychological guarding
This Service Complements Existing Care:
While the provider continues addressing the physical and psychological components of pain, EMDR focuses specifically on calming the overactive alarm system (amygdala) and the dysregulated nervous system that perpetuates the symptom cycle. Using EMDR therapy, the client’s nervous system settles. The body becomes more receptive to concurrent treatments, enabling more lasting results.
Clinical Approach:
-
EMDR: Direct processing of disturbing memories
-
Polyvagal Theory: Nervous system regulation
-
Somatic & Parts Work (IFS): Resolves internal conflict and body-level tension
